School of Agriculture. Available Soon!

Preparations are ongoing to host the new agricultural school of Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB). Over 2.5 hectares of land has been acquired in Mutengene –a town in the South West Region of Cameroon. Located by the major road linking Buea and Mutengene, this area is characterized by volcanic soil, humors in nature and strategically located for the teaching and research farm of the School.

The vision for this practical site is for the running of an integrated system of agriculture; a system of farming that utilizes different agricultural components in order to lower costs and raise efficiency of the farm. This process will involve combining crop production with livestock management that complement each other in a way that is economically viable and profitable, environmentally friendly, and benefiting from the diversity of production.

Visiting the site lately, a team from BUIB recorded positive reactions as the current work being done on the farm land is satisfactory. Currently crops like maize are being grown and organic fertilizers used in improving the yield.

Another practical farm acquired by BUIB is a 2.3 hectare of land in Wonya Nango – a village located in the upper part of Buea in the South West Region of Cameroon. Crops grown on this site currently include soya beans, plantain and yams.

BUIB looks forward to operating the School of Agriculture come the academic year 2022-2023. The School would serve the populace as a source of training, employment and food production.

‘Port Autonome de Douala’ opens its doors to BUIB students for internship placements

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Biaka University Institute of Buea-BUIB and the Port Autonome de Doualabetter known in its French acronym – PAD.

The MoU was signed on Tuesday February 8th 2022 at the campus of Biaka University Institute of Buea

The MoU is aimed at ensuring more students from Biaka University most especially from the school of Management Sciences, have the opportunity to carry out their academic internship at the Douala based port.

 To sign the MoU was Dr Mrs Francisca Hongla Epse Biaka-Vice Chancellor of Biaka University Institute of Buea, Professor Fonkeng Epah George-Deputy Vice Chancellor of Biaka University Institute of Buea in charge of Academics  and Research, Mr Tangsi Max-Director of the School of Management Sciences, Mr Otto Singe-Adviser to the Vice Chancellor of BUIB and the representative from Port Autonome de Douala Douala Mr.  Chechuma Banla, who is the Director of Human Resources.

The partnership comes to solidify the exceptional working relationship between the two institutions which has been existing for a while now

The Port Autonome de Douala has been playing host to BUIB’s students on internship especially in the field of logistics and supply chain management, Human Resource Management, Accounting, Health care management among others at both undergraduate and post graduate levels

Speaking during the brief ceremony which took place at Vice Chancellor’s office the representative of the Port Autonome de Douala had warmed words for the other BUIB students who have passed through this company during their internship programs.

He congratulated the University authorities for the wonderful job in training Cameroonians and adds that they will always stand ready to assist in the best way they can.

BUIB Congratulates 23rd Batch of Graduates.

Some 694 graduates of Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB) have been challenged to live according to the standards and quality of education accorded to them by BUIB as they face the job market. This call was made by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education represented by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea Prof. Horace Ngomo Manga at the 2021 convocation ceremony which took place on November 12 at the University’s campus. The Minister’s Representative further congratulated the Institution for maintaining the standards of Higher Education and equally paid homage to the quality of academic and support staff as well as the growing nature of infrastructures in place to cater for the academic wellbeing of students at BUIB.

The Sales Director at SES Africa, SES Networks Africa, Middle East &Central Asia Dr. Emmanuel Tita Sama addressing graduates in the capacity of Guest Speaker during the event centered his message on accountability and ethos of the different professions as these graduates face the world of employment. “It is ok to be Vulnerable, don’t focus on finding the jobs you love and never stop learning” Dr. Emmanuel Tita added during his discourse. According to the key note speaker, vulnerability leads to the acquisition of more knowledge and focusing on finding a job rather than the ones they love will expose graduates better to gain employment in the nearest future for these he noted are realities of the job market.

Speaking at this ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of Biaka University Institute of Buea  Dr. Mrs. Francisca Hongla Biaka applauded graduates while enumerating the partnerships with different organizations and the availability of other resources  for the better training of students. She reassured stakeholders that the University will continue to be responsible and prudent in the utilization of the available resources in training students for quality.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of the Director of Nursing/Head, Education Department of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Mrs. Magarete C. Eze and the Assistant Director/ Special Assistant to the Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Mrs. Godswill Stella Ijeoma who congratulated graduates on their success and reaffirmed the recognition of their certificates in Nigeria.

 

These 694 graduates from both the School of Health Sciences and the School of Management Sciences, pledged to be ambassadors of BUIB and to continue living with the audacity to be different as this they noted is their identity.

It is worth mentioning that the School of Health Sciences at this event graduated its first batch of Masters students while the School of Management Sciences graduated her first batch of the One year Top-Up Msc. Students.

The ceremony also witnessed amongst other dignitaries, the presence of His Excellency Lewal Bappah; Consul General of the Nigerian Consulate to the North and South West Regions of Cameroon.
