In an inspiring and memorable event that drew together students, parents, staff, dignitaries, and partners to celebrate academic achievement and the institution’s commitment to holistic education, the Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB) today hosted its 2025 Graduation Ceremony. Held under a bright and cheerful atmosphere on campus, the ceremony showcased the university’s tradition of excellence and its continuous role in nurturing skilled, compassionate, and globally competitive professionals.

The event began with the early assembly of students and graduands, who arrived with visible excitement, beautifully dressed in their academic gowns that symbolized years of hard work and determination. As the grounds filled, the ceremony gained momentum with the arrival of school authorities, invited guests, and members of the Board of Trustees, each warmly welcomed by the organizing committee.
Dignitaries graced the event in their numbers. Notable among them was the Host, the Vice Chancellor of BUIB, accompanied by the Mayor of Buea Municipality, Traditional rulers, the Regional Delegates of Public Health and Employment & Vocational Training, the Nigerian Consul-General to Buea, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga, who represented the Minister of State for Higher Education (MINESUP), and several other distinguished personalities whose presence elevated the status of the celebration.



A major highlight of the opening was the procession of graduands, a vibrant and symbolic moment that brought applause from parents and supporters. This procession marked the official transition of the students into the realm of graduates, an unforgettable moment for many.


This was followed by the dignified procession of academic staff and guest faculty, reaffirming the institution’s respect for academic tradition and its deep-rooted values. An ecumenical session set a solemn tone, while the National Anthem and BUIB Anthem, performed by the School Choir, stirred a sense of unity, pride, and patriotism among all present.


The Vice Chancellor of BUIB, Dr. Francisca Hongla Biaka delivered a warm and uplifting welcome address, congratulating the graduates on their resilience and reminding them that they stand as ambassadors of the university’s core values of integrity, professionalism, service, and continuous growth. She took pride BUIB’s commitment to hands-on training, ensuring students graduate with essential workplace skills. The university boss emphasized that through BUIB’s practical learning, the graduating students have acquired not only technical and healthcare expertise but also critical competencies in communication, organization, teamwork, planning, problem-solving, critical thinking, and task management, reasons why BUIB is producing graduates who can thrive in a rapidly changing world and encouraged the students to step boldly into the future.

A key moment of the ceremony was the Guest Speaker’s address by Naomi Etombi Moussa, who delivered a compelling presentation on the theme, “Overcoming the Challenges of the World of Work After Graduation.” Drawing from her experience and expertise, she highlighted the realities of modern employment landscapes, emphasizing adaptability, innovation, and personal branding. Her message resonated with the graduates as she encouraged them to pursue opportunities with courage and to create value wherever they find themselves.

After the messages of Inspiration and Hope was the Registrar, Dr. Visemih Veronica, who presented the Graduands, declaring them ready for academic and professional practice. This moment drew loud cheers and emotional reactions from families, as the achievements of their loved ones were officially recognized.
The ceremony reached an emotional peak with the Valedictory Address delivered by Molinge Nadian Ewelisane, who graduated with an outstanding GPA of 3.97 from the Top-Up BSc Pharmaceutical Studies Program, emerging as the best graduating student. In her eloquent speech, she recounted the collective journey of the class, their challenges, sacrifices, late-night study sessions, and the unwavering support they received from faculty and family. Her address was both a reflection of personal triumph and a call for her peers to continue striving for excellence beyond the university walls.

Following her speech, the representative of the Minister of State for Higher Education, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga, delivered a closing message. He extended heartfelt congratulations to the institution and its graduates and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to enhancing the quality of higher education and ensuring that universities remain engines of national development. He further commended BUIB for its state-of-the-art facilities and the high-quality training it offers, noting that such investments in modern infrastructure and professional development are key contributors to producing competent, industry-ready graduates.

The presentation of prize awards to the best graduating students was an emotional moment that recognized outstanding academic excellence and exceptional commitment. Top performers from various programs were called forward and honored for their remarkable achievements, with the audience applauding their hard work, discipline, and dedication.
