Biaka Group Hosts Danish Delegation for Academic Assessment

The Biaka Group on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, welcomed a high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Denmark, accompanied by officials from the University of Buea, on a fact-finding mission aimed at assessing the academic programmes and certification processes of the Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB). The visit formed part of an official mission authorized by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, to provide the Danish authorities with first-hand information on the academic qualifications issued by BUIB under the mentorship of the University of Buea. The delegation sought to gain a comprehensive understanding of the institution’s academic structure, quality assurance mechanisms, and the procedures through which students earn their qualifications.

The Danish delegation was led by the Consul General of the Kingdom of Denmark in Cameroon and Head of Mission, His Excellency Guillaume Nseke, while the University of Buea delegation was headed by the Registrar, Professor Eneke Bechem, alongside other university officials. During the nearly one-hour visit, members of the delegation were taken on a guided tour of the BUIB campus, where they visited lecture halls, laboratories, simulation rooms, and other modern teaching and learning facilities that support the University’s practical and competency-based approach to education. The visitors were introduced to the institution’s infrastructure and the various investments made by the Biaka Group to ensure students receive quality academic and professional training.

The delegation also attended a presentation highlighting the vision, achievements, and educational philosophy of the Biaka Group. Particular emphasis was placed on the academic programmes offered by the Biaka University Institute of Buea under the mentorship of the University of Buea, as well as the rigorous academic standards and quality assurance measures that govern their implementation. Speaking at the end of the visit, His Excellency Guillaume Nseke expressed satisfaction with what he had observed. He commended the Biaka Group for its impressive infrastructure, conducive learning environment, and commitment to delivering quality higher education. He noted that the facilities reflected significant investment in academic excellence and applauded the institution for maintaining high standards in the training of students.

The Head of Mission further congratulated the CEO and President of the Biaka Group, Dr. Francisca Hongla Biaka, together with her management team, for their dedication, vision, and remarkable efforts in building an institution capable of producing graduates equipped with the knowledge and practical skills required to compete in today’s global environment.

Also speaking during the visit, the Registrar of the University of Buea, Professor Eneke Bechem, praised the longstanding partnership between the University of Buea and BUIB. She described BUIB as one of the University’s oldest mentored institutions and acknowledged the remarkable progress it has made over the years. According to her, the institution has continued to evolve in response to the changing demands of higher education and has developed the capacity to operate sustainably while maintaining the academic standards expected of a mentored institution.

The visit concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the commitment of both the University of Buea and the Biaka Group to quality assurance, academic excellence, and international collaboration. It also underscored the growing recognition of BUIB as a credible institution of higher learning committed to producing competent graduates whose qualifications meet national and international expectations.
