Technology and healthcare came together in a meaningful celebration of innovation, learning and wellbeing as the Biaka Group, through the Biaka Hospital, played an active role in the closing ceremony of the Nervtek Holiday Tech Camp (HTC) 2026 at the Buea Mountain Hotel on Saturday, 22 August 2026.
The closing ceremony brought together young learners, parents, facilitators, partners and other stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of participants who had spent the holiday developing practical skills in Artificial Intelligence, Coding, Electronics, Robotics, Digital Literacy and other technology-related fields. The interregional Holiday Tech Camp, which also takes place in Bamenda and Maroua, is designed to expose young people to emerging technologies while nurturing creativity, teamwork, innovation and problem-solving skills. Through hands-on learning, participants were given an opportunity to move beyond theory and explore how technology can be applied to solve real-world challenges.

Adding an important health and safety dimension to the event, the Biaka Hospital medical team delivered a practical training session on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The session introduced participants to essential lifesaving techniques that can be applied when a person experiences a cardiac or other medical emergency. The CPR demonstration highlighted the importance of knowing what to do in the critical moments before professional medical assistance arrives. For the young participants, the training offered more than medical knowledge; it equipped them with practical skills that could potentially help save a life within their homes, schools or communities.

Beyond the training, Biaka Hospital extended its healthcare services to participants and guests through a free basic health screening exercise. The medical team conducted malaria testing, blood pressure checks, blood group testing, oxygen saturation checks and blood sugar testing. Children aged between 0 and 16 years who tested positive for malaria also received free malaria treatment, further reinforcing the Hospital’s commitment to making essential healthcare accessible to families and communities.
The initiative demonstrated Biaka Hospital’s belief that healthcare should extend beyond the walls of a medical facility. By bringing preventive care, health education and basic medical services directly to community events, the Hospital continues to promote early detection, health awareness and healthier lifestyles.

The closing ceremony also provided participants with an opportunity to showcase projects and demonstrate the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the camp. Their presentations reflected the creativity, curiosity and determination fostered during the programme, while highlighting the potential of young Cameroonians to become innovators and problem-solvers in an increasingly digital world. For the organisers, the participation of the Biaka Group represented an important intersection between education, technology and wellbeing. While young people are being prepared to navigate a rapidly changing technological landscape, their physical and mental wellbeing remains equally important. The collaboration therefore reinforced a simple but powerful message: innovation must go hand in hand with wellbeing.

Through its participation in the Nervtek Holiday Tech Camp 2026, the Biaka Group demonstrated its commitment to supporting initiatives that empower young people while promoting healthier communities. By bringing together healthcare, education, technology and community service, the Group continues to contribute to the development of a generation that is not only innovative and skilled, but also informed, healthy and equipped to make a positive impact.
Biaka Group: Caring – Empowering – Transforming.
