The Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB) has once again reaffirmed its position as a trailblazer in private higher education in Cameroon by making a strong impression at the 3rd Edition of the Private Higher Education Forum held at the iconic Yaoundé Conference Center.

Led by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Francisca Hongla Biaka, the BUIB delegation which included the Director of Administration and Finance, the Adviser to the Vice Chancellor and the Marketing team was among the distinguished institutions that answered present on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, for the national gathering organized under the high patronage of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo. The forum, themed “The Student-Entrepreneur in Private Higher Education in Cameroon: From Incumbent to Business Creation,” brought together key stakeholders from the Ministry of Higher Education, directors of private universities, and industry leaders. The overarching goal was to promote student entrepreneurship, enhance graduate employability, and improve compliance within Private Higher Education Institutions (IPES).

As an institution that has long championed the transformation of students from job seekers to job creators, BUIB actively engaged in various expert panels, networking sessions, and exhibitions. The university’s presence was not only marked by participation but by impact, particularly through one of its shining stars, Nges Hanson Ngam, who took center stage during the forum. As an MBA graduate in Accounting and Finance from BUIB, Nges Hanson Ngam delivered a stirring presentation titled “Building More Than Walls, Building Opportunity.” In this entrepreneurial pitch, he unveiled a compelling business project aimed at offering sustainable construction solutions while creating employment opportunities for youth in his community.

What set Hanson’s presentation apart was not just the ingenuity of the idea, but the compelling personal story behind it. He credited his success and drive to the nurturing environment and visionary leadership of BUIB, especially the inspiration he drew from Dr. Francisca Hongla Biaka. According to him, her entrepreneurial vision and unwavering belief in the potential of students created a fertile ground for him to dream big and act boldly.

As a testament to her confidence in his abilities, Dr. Biaka entrusted him with key institutional contracts, notably the redesign and transformation of the Biaka University main gate, a symbolic project that now stands as a visual representation of creativity and excellence. Hanson’s presentation earned him a warm handshake and approving smiles from Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo, the Vice Chancellor, and a hall full of attendees. It was a proud moment not only for Hanson but for the entire BUIB community, showcasing what the university means when it says it is committed to “training for professionalism.”

Beyond this individual success, BUIB’s participation in the forum reinforced its commitment to embedding entrepreneurship into its academic culture. The institution continues to develop programs and support systems that guide students through the process of idea generation, project development, and business execution. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Francisca Biaka reaffirmed the university’s dedication to grooming the next generation of leaders and innovators: “At BUIB, we believe that education should not only prepare students for existing jobs but also give them the tools and confidence to create opportunities where none seem to exist. Our vision is to inspire, empower, and walk with our students every step of the way.”

With its powerful showcase at the national forum, the Biaka University Institute of Buea has once more demonstrated that it is not just an academic institution, but a powerhouse for innovation, entrepreneurship, and nation-building. As the curtains of the 3rd Edition of the Private Higher Education Forum fall, BUIB returns to Base with a renewed sense of purpose and extreme pride, ready to continue its mission of empowering students not just to seek jobs, but to create them.
