A Day of Fun and Unity: Biaka Students Storm Seme Beach

Excitement filled the air on Friday, 17th April, as the annual student excursion of the Biaka University Institute of Buea unfolded in grand style. What has become one of the most anticipated events on the academic calendar once again brought together students in a vibrant display of unity, relaxation, and celebration beyond the classroom walls.

From the early hours of the morning, over 1,200 students converged at the Molyko Omnisport Stadium in Buea. The atmosphere was electric, with laughter, music, and chatter echoing across the stadium as students prepared for the journey ahead. Dressed in their Biaka and armed with excitement, they gathered in groups, capturing moments and sharing the anticipation of what promised to be a memorable day. Logistics for the trip were impressive, with over 14 buses, each with a capacity of 80 seats, lined up and ready to transport the students. Before departure, breakfast was served, giving everyone the energy needed for the long but exciting journey. The sight of hundreds of students boarding the buses in an orderly yet lively manner reflected the organization and scale of the event.

As the convoy of buses rolled out of Buea, songs vibrated in the buses, turning the journey itself into a celebration. Students sang along to popular tunes, shared jokes, and bonded with friends, both old and new. The road trip became more than just transportation, it was part of the experience, building excitement as they drew closer to their destination.

Upon arrival at Seme Beach, the energy reached a new level. The cool ocean breeze, the rhythmic sound of the waves, and the vast stretch of sand provided the perfect backdrop for a day of leisure and fun. Students wasted no time diving into activities, each group finding its own way to enjoy the beach. Swimming quickly became a favorite, with many students heading straight for the water to cool off and enjoy the refreshing Atlantic waves.

Others gathered on the sand for beach volleyball matches, where friendly competition sparked cheers and laughter from spectators. Football games also drew large crowds, with teams forming spontaneously and playing with passion and enthusiasm. For those seeking a more relaxed experience, games like Jenga offered a different kind of excitement, blending concentration with bursts of laughter each time the tower came crashing down. Music and dancing were constant features throughout the day, as portable speakers turned sections of the beach into lively dance floors. Students showcased their moves, creating an atmosphere that felt more like a festival than a simple outing.

Beyond the activities, the trip served as an important opportunity for social bonding. Students from different faculties and levels interacted freely, strengthening relationships and building a sense of community that extends beyond academic life. It was a day where stress was left behind, replaced by joy, connection, and shared experiences. As the afternoon drew to a close, students began preparing for the journey back. Tired but fulfilled, they boarded the buses once again, carrying with them memories of laughter, friendship, and adventure. By approximately 5 p.m., the convoy made its way back to Buea, marking the end of a successful and unforgettable trip.

The 2026 Biaka student excursion to Seme Beach was more than just a getaway, it was a celebration of youth, unity, and the vibrant spirit of the Biaka community.
