Biaka University Institute’s Maiden Participation at the University Games Leaves Lasting Impact

Biaka University Institute made its maiden appearance at the 25th National Finals of the University Games- Ebolowa 2026, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s growing journey. The participation provided students with a valuable platform to compete, connect, learn, and proudly represent their university on the national stage. The University’s delegation brought together students and staff from both the Buea and Yaoundé Campuses, reflecting Biaka’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to develop holistically beyond the traditional classroom environment.

In Ebolowa, Team Biaka participated in sporting, cultural, creative, and civic activities, showcasing the diverse talents, energy and potential of its students. While the pursuit of medals was an important part of the experience, the University’s participation was ultimately about much more, including fostering teamwork, discipline, leadership, creativity, cultural exchange and civic responsibility.

The University recorded an impressive five medals during the Games. In Judo, Team Biaka secured gold in the 66kg category and silver in the 73kg category. The Biaka Official Fan Club also delivered outstanding performances, winning gold in the Orange Challenge and bronze in both the Caravan Competition and the Flag Hoisting Competition. Beyond the medal tally, Biaka University Institute earned a notable distinction as the Best Civic Engagement-Promoting University, a recognition that underscored the institution’s commitment to responsible citizenship, social cohesion and meaningful youth participation.

The Biaka Official Fan Club transformed its presence at the Games into a platform for promoting living together, social cohesion, cultural diversity and youth empowerment. Through its activities and messaging, students raised awareness about pressing societal challenges, including occultism, human trafficking, modern slavery, drug abuse and rape. The Games also offered Biaka students an opportunity to interact with their peers from universities across Cameroon, experience the demands of national-level competition and showcase their abilities in an environment that encouraged confidence, collaboration and leadership.

For Biaka University Institute, the Ebolowa University Games were therefore more than a sporting competition. They represented an extension of the University’s educational philosophy, one that places equal value on academic knowledge, practical experience, character formation, leadership and career development.
