As the countdown to a new academic year continues, the Biaka University Institute has sent a strong message of preparedness, with its academic and administrative units highlighting 100% readiness for the 2026/2027 academic year during the institution’s annual congregation held on Tuesday, October 13.

More than a routine institutional gathering, the congregation provided a strategic platform for taking stock of preparations, assessing operational capacity, and looking ahead at the innovations expected to shape the year. Chaired by the Vice President/Director General of Biaka Group, the meeting brought together the university’s leadership, heads of schools, administrative officers, and representatives of staff around a shared commitment to institutional excellence.

The proceedings opened with a prayer, followed by opening remarks from the Vice President. Observations from the Vice Chancellor then set the stage for a series of presentations designed to establish how prepared each unit was to deliver on its responsibilities in the coming academic year.
At the heart of the congregation were presentations from the various schools, departments, and services. Each presenter was allotted a maximum of five minutes to demonstrate their unit’s preparedness, outline priorities, and present innovative projections for the year ahead. In their respective presentations, the units highlighted 100% readiness for the new academic year, while outlining plans and initiatives intended to strengthen performance, improve service delivery, and advance the institution’s academic and administrative objectives. The exercise placed emphasis not only on preparedness but also on the capacity of each unit to translate its plans into measurable progress.
Contributors included the Vice President/Director General, the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellors for Academic Affairs and Research and Innovation, the Registrar, and directors of the School of Health Sciences, School of Medical Sciences, School of Education, School of Engineering and Technology, and School of Agricultural Sciences.

The administrative and support services also featured prominently, with presentations from Human Resources, Biaka Hospital, Quality Assurance, Students’ Affairs, Information Technology, Examinations, Liaison, Logistics and Development, and the University Library. Representatives of the Biaka Group staff and the Biaka Complex Staff’ Association (BICOSA) equally contributed to the discussions, reflecting the importance of a collaborative institutional environment.

Together, the presentations offered a broad view of the university’s preparations, highlighting the role of coordinated planning, innovation, and accountability in sustaining quality education and efficient service delivery. The congregation also created room for reactions and contributions from participants, encouraging engagement on the issues raised and reinforcing the value of collective responsibility. Other matters were addressed, while a rehearsa/learning of the school anthem, led by Mr. Fotabe Elvis, added a moment of institutional pride and unity to the programme.

Closing remarks from the Vice Chancellor brought the meeting to an end, followed by a closing prayer.
As BUI looks towards the 2026/2027 academic year, the congregation marks an important step in aligning its people, plans, and priorities. The readiness expressed by the presenting units, coupled with their innovative projections, signals a collective determination to pursue academic excellence, strengthen institutional systems, and deliver meaningful impact.
