The Biaka Group concluded a remarkable participation at the 2026 edition of PROMOTE, one of Central Africa’s premier economic exhibition, reaffirming its position as a leading institution in education, healthcare, and community development through strategic engagements, high-level discussions, and the forging of impactful partnerships. Throughout the exhibition, the Biaka Group showcased the diverse services and opportunities offered by its institutions; the Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB), Biaka Hospital, and the Dr. Biaka Memorial Foundation, while engaging with stakeholders from government, diplomatic missions, academia, development organizations, and the private sector.
One of the major highlights of Biaka’s participation was the hosting of a high-level panel discussion at the UK Pavilion on the theme “Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Youth Employability.” The session brought together distinguished speakers, including His Excellency Matt Woods, British High Commissioner to Cameroon, Peter Nillong, Director of A Hand to Humanity Association, and Dr. Akom Delbert, Ombudsman and Educational Psychologist at the Biaka University Institute of Buea. The discussion explored the growing impact of mental health challenges and substance abuse on young people’s ability to access education, acquire skills, and secure meaningful employment. Panelists emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among educational institutions, governments, healthcare professionals, and civil society organizations in addressing these challenges while creating opportunities for youth empowerment.
A defining moment during PROMOTE 2026 was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Biaka Group, through the Biaka University Institute of Buea, and AECO LIMITED. The signing ceremony, witnessed by His Excellency Matt Woods, British High Commissioner to Cameroon, marked the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at advancing educational innovation and expanding access to quality higher education. The partnership establishes a framework for collaboration in Transnational Education (TNE) consultancy, education partnership development, education business development, strategic advisory services, and other mutually agreed educational initiatives. The collaboration is expected to strengthen institutional partnerships, create internationally relevant learning pathways, and broaden opportunities for students and educators in Cameroon and beyond.
The Biaka stand also welcomed several distinguished visitors, including Minister Paul Tasong, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy Planning and Regional Development in charge of Planning, Professor Pauline Nalova Lyonga, Minister of Secondary Education and H.E Felix Mbayu, Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth. During minister Mbayu’s visit to the UK Pavilion, he engaged in discussions alongside development partners and commended initiatives aimed at strengthening educational cooperation and international partnerships. As part of its commitment to expanding its network of strategic collaborators, the Biaka team paid a courtesy visit to the UNESCO Regional Office for Central Africa, where they held fruitful discussions with Dr. Njoh Vevanje, Programmes Officer. The meeting explored areas of mutual interest in education, innovation, institutional collaboration, and sustainable development, further reinforcing Biaka’s vision of fostering international cooperation.
Beyond these landmark engagements, the Biaka delegation participated in numerous networking sessions, business meetings, and appointments with prospective partners throughout the exhibition.
