The 5th Edition of the NaWeWe Sports Jamboree and the official 2026/2027 Back-to-School Campaign came to a successful close on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in a vibrant celebration of youth, sports, education and community solidarity. The event brought together the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, government officials, development partners, NGOs and nearly 2,000 young people from across Fako Division.
Organised by Local Youth Corner under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, the initiative provided a platform for young people to connect, compete, learn and engage while promoting social cohesion, peaceful coexistence, education and youth empowerment, highlighting the importance of strong partnerships between government, civil society and the private sector in creating opportunities and building resilient communities.
A strong supporter of the initiative, Biaka Group contributed to the success of the event by providing the winner’s cash prize for the sports competition, as well as didactic materials for the official Back-to-School Campaign. The support further demonstrated Biaka Group’s longstanding commitment to investing in young people and contributing meaningfully to community development.
One of the major highlights of the event was the national recognition of Dr. Francisca H. Biaka, President of Biaka Group, Promoter of Biaka University Institute Buea and Yaoundé, and President of the Dr. Biaka Memorial Foundation, as a Social Cohesion Champion. The prestigious recognition, endorsed by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, the United Nations Resident Coordinator to Cameroon, and the Executive Director of Local Youth Corner, celebrates Dr. Francisca’s sustained contributions and impact to healthcare, education and community development.
It also acknowledges her commitment to promoting social cohesion, peace, unity and inclusion through initiatives that directly impact communities and create opportunities for vulnerable and underserved populations.
For Biaka Group, the recognition represents more than a personal honour. It reflects the collective impact of the organisation’s work across healthcare, education and community empowerment, while reaffirming the belief that institutions have a responsibility to contribute to the social and economic wellbeing of the communities they serve.
The NaWeWe Sports Jamboree provided a platform for young people from across Fako to participate in sporting activities, strengthen relationships and promote teamwork and peaceful coexistence. The Back-to-School Campaign also reinforced the importance of education as a pathway to opportunity and personal development.
Through its support, Biaka Group reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that place young people, education, healthcare and community development at the centre of sustainable social transformation.
The event ultimately served as a powerful reminder that meaningful partnerships between government, the private sector, civil society and communities can create lasting impact. For Biaka Group, the recognition of Dr. Francisca H. Biaka as a Social Cohesion Champion is both an honour and a renewed call to continue building bridges, empowering communities and creating opportunities for a more inclusive and united Cameroon.
